Communicating in Construction

CITB

About This Course

So why is communication so important in construction?

How much of your work involves interacting with other people? Probably more than you realise. Everything you do that requires some sort of interaction is an example of why good communication is so important. From giving or receiving instructions, to placing orders for materials, and even reading and filling in documents, if your communication skills are lacking, you’re going to struggle to get by.

Brought to you by the Construction Industry Training Board, Communicating in Construction will help you improve your communication skills as you work towards your Level 1. With practical construction examples, you'll see how what you learn will help you in your everyday work.

When you finish the course you’ll also receive a Communicating in Construction certificate, to show you've completed the course successfully!

Dave the Builder

I'm Dave, a CITB apprentice, and I'm going to be going through the Communicating in Construction course with you. Right from the start of my apprenticeship, I saw how important good, clear communication is when working in the construction industry. It helps us work efficiently and effectively and avoid unnecessary errors, and can also contribute to a much safer working environment, as it’s easy for accidents to occur when people do not communicate properly. In this course, we’ll look at ways to improve your communication skills, be it spoken or written communication. You’ll learn and develop skills that will be extremely helpful in your daily job.
